Islamic Finance: An Alternative Source Of Funding Healthcare Infrastructure In Africa

As an organization committed to fostering the Islamic paradigm of economic development in Africa, the Africa Islamic Economic Foundation (AFRIEF), in collaboration with Glocal Healthcare Services Private Limited, is organizing a two-day Virtual Summit on September 14th – 15th, 2022 on a topic of growing relevance in recent years: Islamic Finance: an Alternative Source of Funding Healthcare Infrastructure in Africa.

The theme of the event is: Transforming Healthcare Infrastructure to Achieve Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goals.  The goal of the Summit is to explore a realistic alternative approach to financing healthcare infrastructure in Africa. The event, therefore, provides a platform for leading Islamic finance and healthcare scholars and academics, key stakeholders, policymakers, researchers, students, investors, healthcare practitioners and other leaders of society from within Africa and beyond to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, as well as to critically examine the purposes, theory, practice, structure, and institutions of the rapidly developing field of Islamic finance and how it can support the development of healthcare in Africa.

No doubt, given its emphasis on risk-sharing, linkages to real economic activities, partnership-based and equity-focused approaches, widened geographic reach and the rapid expansion of its global assets in Muslim and non-Muslim countries, Islamic finance possesses the unique potential to serve as a potent tool for mobilizing as yet untapped sources of liquidity to support strategies for revitalizing healthcare in Africa.

Africa Islamic Economic Forum – 2022

Recognizing the strategic importance and considerable opportunities presented by the Islamic Economy in accelerating the economic growth and development of the continent, the Africa Islamic Economic Foundation (AFRIEF) is happy to announce the Africa Islamic Economic Forum (AIEF) scheduled to take place virtually on the 11th  – 12th October 2022 under the theme: Islamic Economy in Africa – Emerging Pillar of Economic Growth and Development, as a premier annual platform dedicated to fostering the full spectrum of Islamic Economy offerings – from banking, capital market and insurance products down to the Halal Industry – as an alternative paradigm of economic development – to advance Africa’s economic development and diversification plans. As a platform for dialogue and debate on socio-economic issues facing Africa, each year the Forum would tackle critical issues, develop new and alternative insights and ideas on policy priorities for Africa’s decision-makers.

Global Islamic Impact Investment Forum

A gathering of such importance requires esteemed surroundings, and nowhere can inspire significant discussion and action like the beautiful and historic than 116 Pall Mall, London. The Long standing bridge between East and West, London has become a natural meeting place for global affairs and in particular financial matters. As a home from home for many from around the world, this forum too hopes to stimulate dialogue as to how Islamic finance can be employed as a instrument of change in a world where the divide between the rich and the poor is ever growing.  A day of understanding, the GIIIF wishes to investigate the opportunities, the intent and indeed the potential legacy of Islamic Impact Investment worldwide. Join us on the 7th  of September 2022.
