The Africa Islamic Economic Foundation (AFRIEF), an international Not-for-Profit Organization and Global Vision 2000 Ltd, an International Islamic Think Tank have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enter into a strategic collaboration to foster professional exchange and dialogue, scholarly research and collaboration across the thematic areas of sustainable development and Islamic economy in Africa.
The MOU envisages a collaborative relationship that connects private equity investments and philanthropy with knowledge and networks that can deepen collaboration, leverage resources and sustain impact, driving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) delivery within national development agendas.
The two collaborating parties are expected to bring together their capabilities and expertise to nurture the creative role of national and international scholarly and professional communication and collaboration in the development and dissemination of knowledge, learning, research and facilitation of innovative programs of action aiming at improving livelihoods in Africa.
Combining expertise in project planning, finance, economics and operations with a sophisticated knowledge of implementation strategies, the two organizations have also agreed to jointly launch a wide range of projects involving capacity development and strategic support for transformative strategies among community stakeholders and key policymakers.
Baba Yunus Muhammad, President of Africa Islamic Economic Foundation (AFRIEF) has this to say about the partnership: “this collaboration marks an exciting chapter for AFRIEF as it will leverage on Global Vision 2000’s wide international experience, network and strength to propel Africa’s rapid economic and social development. We believe that the two organizations have complementary capabilities and we are very excited at the power of combining these to create a full-service portfolio leveraging a larger pool of international and local talents and expertise. No doubt, this relationship will create strong synergies in both project and talent development, and it will help to accelerate AFRIEF’s mission of shifting the prevailing paradigm of economic development in Africa – and of the economy as a whole – toward a new system that is ethical, place-based, inclusive, collaborative and ecologically sustainable”.
Moeen Yaseen, CEO of Global Vision 2000 Ltd has this to say about the partnership: “Global Vision 2000 has started to operationalize activities from a new presence in Istanbul rather than London. We think that from here in Turkey we can leverage Turkish support for greater participation in trade, investment and socioeconomic development in Islamic Africa. We look forward to formulating and rolling out viable initiatives with AFRIEF and our Turkish JV partners.”
